Padma Rajendran was born in Klang, Malaysia. She studied at Bryn Mawr College and received her M.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited at the International Print Center New York, Ortega y Gasset Projects (Brooklyn), INDEX (Los Angeles), Beers London (UK), Field Projects (New York), September Gallery (Hudson NY), and BRIC Arts Media (Brooklyn) with upcoming shows at Aicon Gallery (New York) and Taymour Grahne (London). She has attended residencies at Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, Ortega y Gasset Projects, Studios at MassMoCA, Women’s Studio Workshop, Ox-Bow, and the Lower East Side Printshop. She lives and works in Catskill, NY and teaches printmaking at SUNY Purchase. Her works on fabric experiment with the clash and combination of patterning and storytelling. These content rich compositions reference the duality and contradictions of cultures and the multi-facetted definitions of universal heritage. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Art Maze Magazine, Maake Magazine and most recently Chronogram Magazine.
