MA and MFA Curatorial Opportunities

Building on the rich history of collaboration between MA and MFA students at Hunter, we periodically announce Open Calls for MA students to propose curatorial projects at 205 Hudson street. These opportunities welcome emerging curators in the Art History MA program at Hunter College to propose modestly scaled exhibitions or public programs featuring work by their MFA peers. Our goal is to provide a platform for MA and MFA students to collaborate and gain practical experience on how to plan and execute exhibitions and programming.

These Open Calls typically happen in conjunction with Hunter's Open Studios, which take place once a semester. Given the pop-up format of the exhibitions, applicants are encouraged to consider 2-D and 3-D artworks that are relatively easy to install, and/or the potential of art presentations which favor temporality. Performances and activations are well-suited for this type of exhibition and will be strongly considered.

ELIGIBILITY & TERMS

• Applicants (both curators and artists) must be currently enrolled in the MA or MFA programs at Hunter College.
• Artwork must be handled and installed by artists and curators.
• Curators and artists are responsible for restoring the exhibition space.
